GET THE INSIDE SCOOP FROM ICWF'S INSIDE REPORTER!
Welcome to another edition of "Off The Ropes" Report with Peter Hartin. In this edition I'd like to give you all my opinions and feelings on a promotion. I began helping the ICWF in May 2007 doing such things as time keeping, security, and ring crew. At the ICWF I made friends with plenty of people, had memorable experiences, and through the ICWF the doors were opened to other promotions. As I now help with the ICWF I would like to highlight the fact that they have always been a company that the wrestlers, staff, and fans can respect. When they made their debut at the Havelock Tourist and Event Center they sold it out.
Now to the main topic of this report. Throughout the time I've helped with promotions there is one that I'd like to talk about, which will remain anonymous. At one time I had the chance to be an announcer for the promotion and that was a great experience. The next month I was "tossed aside" and made security instead because they had found someone else to be the announcer. The person they chose seemed less professional because he never wore a suit and the announcer is the main person who holds the show together so if he fails the show fails.
I've received comments from them about not trusting the ICWF, and to go train with them instead. Another thing about the promotion is that for one of their shows they gave free tickets to the members and families of a boys and girls club that they held their show at. This can be viewed as a way for the promotion to try and make themselves look more popular because they have a bigger fan base than the ICWF than when the ICWF based out of North Carolina.
I've received messages from the promotion asking me to hurry up and train with them, as they needed more money in order to meet the payments for their building. The reason why I was split on whether to train with them or not was the fact that they didn't offer cardio training which is a major part of wrestling. Just ask any wrestler and they'll agree that without cardio you can't last long in a match. Plus, you can't do a good amount of the cardio techniques outside of the school since they involve a ring.
A female wrestler of the promotion who started training with the ICWF but then let her ego get out of hand and thought she didn't need training and since then has been punched in the face during a match, has had her arm broken because she is not trained and now is blaming every female she has a match with for her own mistakes in the match. A wrestler that she faced posted a blog with her thoughts on the situation of being blamed for someone else's mistake.
The promotion wanted the ICWF to join them and use ICWF's funds to pay for their bills and that will explain why they are struggling to make ends meet. One of their own wrestlers told someone from the ICWF that when they where at the Newport, NC flea mall, that one of the owners got up in the other owners face yelling at him about how they need to find better ways to make the money to pay the bills. The fans that show up at their shows are all thanks to ICWF because the majority of the fans all attended the ICWF shows, meaning the promotion has yet to build up its own fan base. Along with getting their fans from the ICWF, half of the roster that they now have were either trained by the ICWF or were in training with the ICWF.
Many of you all know or have heard of Krazy K. Well, he was once the champion of the promotion. However, he was never brought back to defend his title and therefore they stripped him of it. The truth is he would have defended the title in the time limit but the promotion didn't have the money to pay him to come back and defend it so the only logical thing for them to do was to strip him of the title and put the strap on someone else's shoulders. So since Krazy K never lost the title you could consider the men who held the title after him to be "paper champions". I know that plenty of fans would've loved to see Krazy K defend the title against someone but it never occurred due to the promotion's lack of funds.
Zack and I were helping with the promotion with one of the shows. I had to leave and help with something; once I left the promoter was trying to talk Zack into getting into the ring with little training. I want to heavily emphasize that the things I have mentioned are just a fraction of my entire knowledge of it and that they are all my personal feelings and opinions. I felt that you all needed to hear the truth about the promotion, which will always remain anonymous.
